Privacy policy
The Webasto Group companies respect your privacy and take the protection of your personal data very seriously. We think it’s important for you to know how and when we collect what data and how we use it. We have put in place technical and organisational measures to ensure that the rules governing data protection/privacy are strictly adhered to.
Collection and use of non-personal information (anonymous data collection)
You can basically visit the non-personalised websites of the Webasto Group (www.webasto.com, www.webasto-thermo.com, www.webasto-charging.com and www.webasto-group.com) without providing personally identifying information about yourself. When you visit our various websites, information of the sort that web browsers typically make available such as the current IP (Internet Protocol) address, browser type and the operating system of your PC, referring website, date and time and the sites you have visited are collected. However, it is not possible nor is it our intent to draw conclusions regarding your personal data.
Personal data
Personal data refers to information about your person. This includes information such as your name, address, mailing address, telephone number. Information that cannot be directly associated with your actual identity (such as time spent on the website or number of users of the website) is not included herein. Personally identifying data is only collected by the companies of the Webasto Group if you voluntarily provide it, for example, by filling out an application form or when registering for personalised services. The data you enter in such a form is only stored for the respective indicated use. For example, we require your complete address to process [job] applications.
We reserve the right to share your data with other enterprises of the Webasto Group, our authorised dealers and service partners, in order to improve our services to you. In the event that you request the offer of a dealer via our website, we disclose the personal data you have provided to the dealers you have selected. Disclosure of this data to third parties shall be precluded, unless you have expressly consented to such action.
The use of our range of social media and map services may result in data transmissions and subsequent processing of usage data by the respective services in the U.S. The basis for any processing activities is your explicit declaration of consent which you have given via the cookie banner. Your declaration of consent justifies such data processing by way of exception and on a case-by-case basis pursuant to Art. 49 (1) lit. a GDPR. Please note that there is no data protection in the USA which would be comparable to the level in the EU and EEA. In particular, it is possible that state authorities may access your personal data on the basis of legal authorisations without us or you being informed. There are no comparable opportunities for enforcing the law of another country in the U.S. so that this does not appear promising.
Possible data transmissions exclusively take place in automated form in connection with the use of our social media offerings and Google's map services and with the help of cookies. Further details on this can be found in this data protection declaration in the sections "Use of cookies", "Google Maps map service of Google Inc." and "Use of social plug-ins from Facebook, Google+, Twitter and XING".
You can reject the use of cookies and other technologies altogether or choose individual settings. You can also revoke your consent at any time with effect for the future. Any processing carried out previously remains unaffected by a revocation. Please contact our Data Protection Officer under "dataprotection@webasto.com".
A local language version is being prepared at the moment.
Duration of data storage
Personal data submitted to us via our website is stored only for such time until the purpose for which you have provided it is served. Insofar as retention periods relating to commercial or tax law must be observed, the storage time for particular data may equal up to 10 years.
Your rights
If you no longer agree to the storage of your personal data or should it have become inaccurate, upon receipt of an appropriate notification, we will, in accordance with the statutory provisions, have your data deleted, corrected or blocked. Upon request you will receive, free of charge, information concerning all your personal data that we have stored. For questions regarding collection, processing or use of your personal data, for information, correction, blocking or deletion of data, please contact our customer centre at info@webasto.com or write to the respective company of the Webasto Group.
Use of cookies
Our websites use “cookies”. Cookies are small amounts of data that can be stored on your computer’s hard drive. This data set is created and sent to you by the web server with which you have established a connection via your web browser (e.g. Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox). The cookie allows you to be identified when you revisit our website, precluding the need for you to resubmit data that you have previously provided. Most browsers are currently set by default to automatically accept cookies. However, you have the option to set your browser to reject cookies or to display them in advance. You can obtain information on this subject in the Help function of your browser. Furthermore, you can delete cookies on your system (e.g. Windows Internet Explorer) at any time.
More information about the cookies used on this website can be found here.
Links to other websites
Our online services contain links to other websites. We have no influence on whether their operators comply with the laws on data privacy. Therefore, please make sure to review the data privacy policies provided in each case. We also have no influence whatsoever on the lawfulness of the content of these websites. We therefore reject any and all responsibility for the content of other websites.
AT Internet privacy notice
To improve our website and optimise the content offered to you we use analytics by Applied Technologies Internet SAS, Bordeaux. For this purpose, data is stored by a third-party service provider. The service provider’s servers are located in EU member states. For this analytics method, all data will be made anonymous during collection and analysed in aggregated form.
Your Internet browser automatically transmits data to our server when you access our websites. This data consists of: date and time of access, URL (address) of the referring website, retrieved file, amount of data sent, HTTP response code, browser type and browser version, browser extensions, width and height of the browser window, colour depth, operating system and your IP address (truncated and anonymised). Your IP address is used for geolocation analyses only. Your IP address is nor stored permanently nor crossed with other user data. This data is stored separately from other data you enter while using our website. It is not possible for us to link this data to a specific person. It does not contain any information which would allow the identification of individuals. Data is collected and used exclusively for statistical and for analytical purposes, such as for improving our offer.
To perform those analyses we use cookies. They are stored as text files on your computer. For returning visits on the website they allow the identification of a computer system. You can refuse or delete cookies in your browser’s preferences at any time. However, if you do so you may no longer be able to use all our portal’s functions. Most of the cookies used are referred to as “session cookies”, which will be deleted when you finish your browser session. In addition, AT Internet uses two long-lasting (persistent) cookies, which are stored for 30 days or a maximum of 12 months.
Information and refusal:
By using this site, you consent to the previously described procedure for analysing the use of our website. You’ll find more information about AT Internet’s measurement method on AT Internet’s website: http://www.atinternet.com/en/company/data-protection/

Utilisation of social plugins of Facebook, Google+, Twitter and XING
At our website, you will find bars indicating references (links) to the following social networks/services:
- The external social network Facebook, belonging to Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA. The plugins are identifiable on one of the Facebook logos (white F on a blue tile or a “thumbs up” symbol or are marked with the additional designation “Facebook social plugin”. The list and the appearance of the Facebook social plugins may be viewed at http://developers.facebook.com/plugins.
- The external social network “Google+”, belonging to Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. In the context of our Internet appearance, the plugins have been identified by the Google+ logo or the additional designation “+1”.
- The external service named Twitter, belonging to Twitter Inc., 795 Folsom St., Suite 600, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. They can be identified by terms such as “Twitter” or “Follow”, combined with the stylised blue bird. The buttons can be viewed at https://twitter.com/about/resources/buttons. These buttons enable you to share an article or a page found on our website on Twitter or to follow us on Twitter.
- The XING network, belonging to XING AG, Gänsemarkt 43, 20354 Hamburg, Germany. The plugins are designated by the XING share button.
The buttons and/or plugins are deactivated by default and you must explicitly activate them. The functions assigned to the references (links) to the respective networks/services (Facebook, Google+, Twitter, XING), in particular with regard to the transmission of information and user data, do not become active merely by visiting our website. This only happens with a click on the corresponding references.
When these references (links) are followed with a click, this activates the plugins of Facebook, Google+, Twitter and/or XING and your browser establishes a direct connection to the servers of the individual networks/services, i.e. of Facebook, Google+, Twitter and/or XING. In the event that in the course of your visit to our website you activate the references and are logged into your personal user account(s) on the individual network/service (Facebook, Google+, Twitter, XING), the information regarding your visit to our website is forwarded to the individual operators of these networks/services (Facebook, Google+, Twitter, XING). The respective operator (Facebook, Google+, Twitter, XING) can associate your visit to the website with your account. This information is transmitted to the operator (Facebook, Google+, Twitter, XING) and could, if necessary, be stored there. In order to prevent this from happening, you must log out of your account(s) prior to clicking on the reference (link).
Supplementary information regarding the stored information may be found at the following links:
- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/help/186325668085084/
- Google+: http://support.google.com/plus/bin/answer.py?hl=de&answer=1319578&rd=1
- XING: http://www.xing.com/app/share?op=data_protection
Even if you are not a member of one of the social networks/services indicated above, the possibility exists that these organisations may find out your IP address via the social plugins and could conceivably store it. Please determine the details with regard to the purpose and extent of the data processing, collection and utilisation by Facebook, Google+, Twitter and XING and your relevant rights and settings options from the respective data privacy policies as follows:
- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/
- Google+: http://www.google.com/intl/de/+/policy/+1button.html
- Twitter: https://twitter.com/privacy
- XING: http://www.xing.com/privacy
Moreover, you have the option of blocking social plugins with the aid of add-ons for your browser, such as the Facebook plugin with the “Facebook Blocker”, which you can download here: http://webgraph.com/resources/facebookblocker/. You can also make partial changes to your data privacy settings, e.g. at http://twitter.com/account/settings.
Newsletter
When we send out newsletters, emails and other electronic communications with advertising-related information (hereinafter “newsletters”) we do so only with the consent of the recipients or with legal permission. Provided that as part of a subscription to the newsletter, its contents are specifically outlined, these are decisive for the consent of the user.
If you subscribe to our newsletter, we use the information needed for this purpose or information you have provided to us separately, in order to regularly send you our email newsletter. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time either by sending a message to the contact option described below or via a link in the newsletter that is provided for this purpose.
To subscribe to the newsletter, all you have to do is provide us with your email address. The subscription to our newsletter uses the so-called double opt-in procedure. In other words, after registering, you will receive an email in which you are requested to confirm your subscription. This confirmation is necessary so that no one can subscribe by using someone else’s or an unknown email address.
Subscriptions to the newsletter are logged, in order for us to be able to verify the subscription process in accordance with legal requirements. This includes the storage of the time of registration (initial subscription) and confirmation, as well as the IP address.
You can cancel receipt of our newsletter at any time, i.e. revoke your consent. Thus, both your forms of consent to having the newsletter sent are thereby voided simultaneously. You will find a link to unsubscribe from the newsletter at the end of each issue of the newsletter.
